Position Overview
As an English to Malay Game Localization Specialist (Freelance), you’ll be the bridge between the game’s original vision and its players. Your mission is to ensure that every line of game text (e.g., dialogue, menu items, UI elements, etc.) feels native to the players, maintaining both cultural relevance and linguistic accuracy. In this role, you won’t just be translating words—you’ll be adapting an experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake all duties assigned by Project Managers
- Translate, edit, proofread, and perform QA checks
- Maintain glossary/terminology
- Verify in-game text for contextual accuracy and source consistency
- Ensure adherence to client guidelines and delivery acceptance standards
- Deliver natural, engaging, and contextually accurate Malay translations that enhance player immersion
- Ensure culturally appropriate localization by adapting content to local nuances, minimizing cultural risks, and maintaining consistency across the game
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other team members to maintain peak quality standards under tight, fast-paced deadlines
Requirements:
- Native Malay speaker with strong proficiency in English
- Big passion for language and game
- Experience in the gaming translation field
- A strong understanding of gaming culture in Malay
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- Ability to maintain accurate, consistent, high-quality work and take independent action under tight deadlines
- Keen eye for detail, self-motivated, and out of the box
- Familiarity with various gaming genres and platforms (PC, console, mobile, etc.) are a big plus
- Experience as an LQA Specialist or Game Tester is a plus
